I have removed all the signal lamps (including the third brake light) and the hazard warning flasher. No help. I also disconnected the brake pedal switch and its ok. I have tried to disconnect the hazard light switch but can't figure out how to disconnect the wiring. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

As soon as I try to install the fuse it will blow. Can you tell the trick to disconnecting the turn signal/hazard lights switch wiring harness so I can prove there isn't a fault in that device? Thanks, Jeff

I have removed the negative lead to the battery and I am troubleshooting with a volt/ohm meter so the airbag shouldn't be a factor. I have unhooked the tail lights at the disconnect and they are good. I also unhooked the third brake light and it is good. I would like to know if anyone has a wiring diagram for this truck as I can't seem to figure out the path for the turn signal/hazard lights in the front which are on the brake light circuit. Thanks, Jeff

Rereading the other posts and with you saying that the fuse blows with out activating the brake light switch; it may not be a lighting issue that’s causing this. Most times they will pair up the exterior lighting with another device such as an accessory power outlet, cigarette lighter or the radios memory. Their theory behind this is if a convenience item isn’t working we’ll likely investigate; where as if the brake lights were on their own we wouldn’t know, until we are told. Just thinking out loud; but its maybe worth having a look around. Dan. Canadian "EH" (This post was edited by DanD on Jan 8, 2006, 6:16 AM) |

There are a few things that stick out. The first one you point out and also the optional trailor wiring. Is it possible that this is where the trouble is? I found these wires stuffed up in the frame with some obviuous broken down insulation and black marks on the yellow and heavier gauge white wire.. Like it has been shorting and grounding out. Also because this fuse is hot at all times. What should on see on my ohm meter at the fuse box with the battery disconnected? I've been fooling with this so long I'm startin' to get cornfused. Thanks again for the help, you guys are great! Jeff

Turns out it was the brake pedal switch. At first look, it seemed okay, but actually it was bad. My son told me the lights came on while he was outside the truck once before the fuse started to blow later. Thanks for all the help, once again you guys are a great help. Jeff
